🛠️ Installation Steps
-
Fully Inflate the Boat
Ensure your inflatable boat is fully inflated before starting the installation. -
Select and Mark the Mounting Location
Choose a flat, clean, and dry area on the boat's surface. Use a pencil or masking tape to mark the desired position for the RibPort. -
Prepare the Surface
Use the supplied abrasive pad to lightly scuff the marked area. This step enhances adhesion. -
Clean the Surface
Wipe the prepared area with the provided alcohol wipes to remove any dust, oils, or residues. Allow the surface to dry completely. -
Prepare the RibPort
Peel the backing paper off one side of the 3M VHB pad and adhere it to the RibPort, ensuring it's centred and aligned. -
Trim Excess Adhesive
Using sharp scissors, carefully trim any excess adhesive around the RibPort's edges for a neat finish. -
Apply Heat
Gently heat the adhesive side of the RibPort with a heat gun or hair dryer on a low setting. This makes the adhesive more pliable and improves bonding. -
Attach the RibPort
Peel off the remaining backing paper from the adhesive. Position the RibPort over the marked area and press it firmly into place. Apply even pressure, moving from the center outwards, for at least 45 seconds. -
Secure and Cure
Place a weight on top of the RibPort to ensure consistent pressure during the curing process. Allow the adhesive to set for at least 12 hours. Full bond strength is achieved after 72 hours.
⚠️ Additional Tips
-
Avoid Petroleum-Based Products: Do not use petroleum-based lubricants on the StarPort slide, as they can cause failure. Silicone-based lubricants are recommended.
-
Surface Compatibility: The RibPort is compatible with Hypalon, PVC, and polyethylene inflatable boats.
